KEFRI celebrates recertification of ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 standards

The Kenya Forestry Research Institute (KEFRI) has successfully renewed its ISO 9001:2015 (Quality Management Systems) and ISO 14001:2015 (Environmental Management Systems) certifications, reinforcing its commitment to quality and environmental sustainability.

This marks the continuation of a 13-year journey for the institute in adhering to these international standards.

Dr. Jane Njuguna, CEO of KEFRI, highlighted the importance of the achievement: "This re-certification represents our dedication to fostering collaboration, safeguarding the environment, and upholding the highest standards in forestry research."

The certifications are integral to KEFRI's operations, contributing to improved efficiency, better resource management, reduced waste, and enhanced service delivery.

Dr. Njuguna also pointed out that the certifications were key in KEFRI's successful bid for the 2029 International Union of Forest Research Organizations (IUFRO) World Congress.

She thanked the staff for their hard work, noting, "This success would not have been possible without the extraordinary teamwork of the entire KEFRI fraternity."

KEFRI remains the only State Corporation in the Ministry of Environment and Forestry to hold both ISO certifications. These achievements also align with the institute's ongoing efforts to foster a collaborative and productive work environment, exemplified by its annual team-building activities and staff awards.
