‘Keep off Brian Mwenda saga!’ LSK tells politicians, threatens action against Sonko for aiding ‘fugitive’

LSK is also demanding that former Nairobi Governor Mike Mbuvi Sonko, who was last seen with Mwenda in a viral video, hand him over to the police, failing which legal action will be taken against him.

LSK President Eric Theuri, who addressed the press on Saturday, termed Mwenda a ‘fugitive on the loose’ and said that anyone who aids him can be lawfully charged.

“We want to notify the members of the public that Brian Mwenda Njagi is now a fugitive of the law. As citizens of this country, we have a moral and a legal obligation to effect an arrest if the said masquerader is seen anywhere in public,” Theuri said.

“We have also seen a video that he shot yesterday evening with former governor Mike Sonko making fun of the serious allegations levelled against him and saying he could present himself to a police station either on Monday or Tuesday.”

He added: “We wish to notify the former governor that he is now aiding a fugitive of the law and that in itself is a criminal offence and if he does not produce the masquerader to the nearest police station we would also be asking the police to take action against him.”

 LSK says Mwenda committed fraud and it is investigating how much money he took from unsuspecting members of the public. 

“We said Mwenda committed a number of offences; he pretended to be an advocate, he obtained money from his clients misleading them he was an advocate…that is a criminal offence,” Thuri noted.

“He also stole the identity of an existing advocate Brian Mwenda Ntigwa, and that in itself is  also a criminal offence.”

The legal body asserts that any document handled by Mwenda lacks legal backing.

The LSK president has further expressed shock at the fact that Mwenda enjoys support among some politicians and has dismissed COTU Secretary General Francis Atwoli's support for the fake advocate.
