There has been a lot of clamour in the media about the ongoing Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) exams, with many complaining of massive leakage of exam papers across country.

A student from an undisclosed school has confirmed that the mathematics paper doing rounds on social media is indeed the one that candidates took, despite conflicting statements from the Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC).

According to a source who requested anonymity, the leakage has increased rapidly, and candidates have the papers well in advance.

“The KCSE exam papers are now leaked up to two days before the test. They are dispersing these examination papers through WhatsApp and other such mediums,” confided the source.

What should happen when exams are compromised?

“It is the norm for the examination council to prepare emergency KCSE papers when cases of leakage arise. However, this year there seems to be none.” He added.

Social Media activist, Robert Alai, uploaded photos of a document that is suspected to be the KCSE Physics exam. He asked social media users if this was the exam that students were to sit on Friday.

Addressing members of the press during the release of the new Form One placement guidelines, Education CS Jacob Kaimenyi denied allegations that examination papers are being leaked.

The CS added that he was not aware of any examination irregularities, and he went on to challenge those leveling the leakage accusations to provide evidence backing their claims.

KNEC has also denied the allegations saying that the exam papers being shared on social media are not the real ones.
