KCPE candidate in Nyandarua dies moments after giving birth

A Kenya Certificate of Primary Education KCPE candidate in Nyandarua died shortly after giving birth on Tuesday.

Area County Commissioner Benson Leparmorijo said the pupil from Pesi Primary School suffered excessive bleeding.

She had been admitted to Nyahururu County Referral Hospital.

He said the girl had reported to the examination centre in a jovial mood on Tuesday but started experiencing labour pains before the morning paper.

She was admitted to hospital and delivered a baby boy at 10am but started to bleed excessively.

The Class 8 pupil was ferried in an ambulance to Nyahururu County Referral Hospital together with the infant, who is said to have developed breathing complications.

She died after having lost too much blood.

Leparmorijo that the body has been moved to the hospital mortuary awaiting autopsy while the baby remains in an incubator.

In Kipiriri, another candidate who is alleged to have been impregnated by her father lost the baby on Monday afternoon after delivery.

One other girl delivered a baby on Monday and the two are in a stable condition.
