Kasipul CDF driver arrested over murder of Kidero's ex-bodyguard

A driver attached to the Kasipul National
Government Constituency Development Fund (NG-CDF) has been arrested and
arraigned in court over the murder of a 35-year-old bouncer in Oyugis town,
Homa Bay County.
Kennedy
Ogalo Osano was arraigned at the Oyugis Law Courts over last week’s murder of
Evans Okoda at Rawinji area.
Okoda,
who was part of the security detail of former Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero
during the 2022 General Election, was found dead in the compound of his rented
house on Friday.
He
had sustained serious injuries on the head while his right fingers were chopped
off at the wrist.
According
to a testimony given in court by Rachuonyo South sub-county Criminal Investigations
Officer David Kirui, Osano's phone call data linked him with the murder.
Kirui said they had gathered a lot of data
whose analyses are yet to be completed.
He
said they still need more time to continue holding Osano in custody to enable
them conclude the probe into the matter.
During
the hearing, the prosecution led by Churchil Ogema urged the court to grant the
Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) more time to continue holding the
suspect.
Oyugis
Resident Magistrate Cynthia Cheruiyot granted the DCI seven more days to
continue detaining Osano.
The case
will be mentioned on May 14, 2024 when further directions will be given as the
suspect is held at the Oyugis Police Station.
