Kalonzo, Sifuna demand immediate action on IEBC panel after court ruling

Just days after pledging to launch a vigorous campaign to unseat President Ruto in 2027, Kalonzo Musyoka visited Eden Gospel Trumpet Church in Dagoreti North for a Sunday service.

During the service, he, alongside ODM Secretary General Edwin Sifuna, reiterated their call for the immediate appointment of the IEBC selection panel.

Kalonzo Musyoka stated, "The country cannot function without an IEBC panel to oversee elections."

ODM Secretary General Edwin Sifuna also stood firm in his position, defending his criticism of the government despite some internal tensions within the party. Sifuna emphasized, "I will continue to stand for truth—if something is wrong, it is wrong."

In the wake of the Inspector General of Police being summoned over alleged abductions, Kalonzo called for the police chief’s arrest if he fails to appear in court on Monday. "We cannot allow a country to operate with impunity. Tomorrow, he must appear in court, or else he will face legal consequences," Musyoka declared.

Meanwhile, the National Liberal Party has accused Kalonzo Musyoka of stalling the IEBC panel constitution process by attempting to impose a candidate who was rejected by a majority of the parties within the Azimio la Umoja coalition.

Omondi K'Oyoo, Secretary General of the National Liberal Party, expressed regret over Kalonzo's actions, stating, "It is unfortunate that the Wiper leader has resorted to labeling the National Liberal Party and Dr. Augustus Muli as projects of the Kenya Kwanza government."

Kalonzo Musyoka has vowed to lead a spirited campaign against President Ruto, promising to reverse all policies enacted by the current administration.
