Kalonzo dismisses reports of handshake with President Ruto

Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has dismissed allegations of a handshake with President William Ruto at State House, citing that he would not betray Kenyans for political gain.

A video circulated online of Kalonzo arriving at State House and shaking hands with President Ruto, mirroring an agreement with the Kenya Kwanza administration.

In response, the Wiper leader questioned why the State's proponents acted in panic mode over his next course of action.

Kalonzo has hinted at forming a coalition with Martha Karua's People Liberation Party in an attempt to unseat Ruto from the presidency during the 2027 elections.

"Why are they so panicky? The People's Loyal Coalition will never be party to the biggest betrayal of Kenyans for political expediency and temporary comfort," Kalonzo noted.

Kalonzo's remarks come at a time when the country's political arena is edging towards alliances to forge a united front ahead of the elections.

Last week, President Ruto and opposition leader Raila Odinga signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), signalling a political truce between the two leaders.

Further, Karua rebranded NARC-Kenya to PLP and has expressed interest in working together with former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, Kalonzo, and Democratic Action Party Eugene Wamalwa, among others.
