Kakamega Governor Oparanya makes new appointments following resignations
Kakamega County Governor Wycliffe Oparanya
has restructured his cabinet following the resignation of some of the top
officials to join politics.
According to a statement issued on Tuesday,
the governor made five changes to the cabinet as the new team was directed to
assume the new positions immediately.
“This is to notify all the staff that I have
made the following appointment changes effective 15 February 2022,” read a
section of the notice.
Major departments affected include
Agriculture, lands, the Social Services, Youth, Sports and Culture and Livestock
and Veterinary Services department.
All the newly appointed County Executive
Committee Members and Chief Officers were put on interim positions in their
respective sectors.
Phanuel Kulati Wangia who is the current
county executive for Water, Environment and Natural Resources will be the
acting CEC Lands, Physical Planning Housing and Urban Areas CECM.
Former Education, Science and Technology CEC
Dr George Akolo Lutomia will now head Social Services, Sports, Culture, Youth
and Women Empowerment in an acting position.
Onjoro Achiebo takes over the Agriculture
docket as the new acting Chief Officer.
Rachel Jahula Okumu was previously the CECM
for the whole docket; Agriculture, Irrigation, Cooperative, Livestock,
Veterinary Services and Fisheries
Christopher Kadenge will be in charge of the
Livestock and Veterinary Services
Acting County Attorney, Vivian
Mmbaka was installed as the county’s Attorney in the new changes.
