Kakamega Governor Barasa reshuffles Cabinet, strips DG Savula of CEC role
Kakamega Governor
Fernandes Barasa has announced a reorganization of his Cabinet in a bid to
bolster service delivery.
Governor Barasa,
in a memo released on Tuesday, said the changes “will take immediate effect,
signifying a commitment to optimizing the county’s governance structure for the
benefit of its residents.”
The Kakamega
County boss stripped his deputy Ayub Savula of the title of Chief Executive
Committee Member (CECM) for Trade, Industrialization and Tourism.
Savula will now
retain his position as Deputy Governor, and will further be tasked with coordinating
activities in all ministries and their subsequent departments.
In the said
ministry, Governor Barasa has now nominated Zaccheaus Muya Lutomia, whose
official appointment to the role is contingent upon vetting by the County
Assembly.
Dr. Boniface
Okoth, who previously held the post of County Secretary and Head of Public
Service, has been designated as the CECM for Education.
Godfrey Awori now
leaves the Education docket, and takes over as the CEC for Public Service and
Administration.
Similarly, Dr.
Laurence Omuhaka who served as CEC for Public Service and Administration will
now take on the dual roles of County Secretary and Head of Public Service.
Four Chief Officers
have been impacted by the alterations.
