Kajiado: Manhunt launched after father defiles, kills 14-year-old daughter
Detectives in Loitoktok, Kajiado County, are hunting down a
father who allegedly defiled and killed his 14-year-old daughter at Isinet town
on Monday night.
Kajiado South sub-county Police Commander Kiprotich Chekwony
told Citizen Digital that the body of the Grade 8 learner was found
in her parents’ matrimonial bed on Tuesday morning bearing neck injuries.
Mr. Chekwony said the man reportedly returned home on Monday after
months of absence and a disagreement ensued between him and his 37-year-old
wife, during which he threatened to kill her and she fled to a neighbouring
home for refuge.
"The suspect was reported to have left home hurriedly to
an unknown destination only to resurface at night and found his two daughters
at home alone. He preyed on his second born after locking out her 16-year-old elder
sister outside the house at around 9pm," said the police boss.
The middle-aged suspect, who is believed to be a Tanzanian national,
is said to have gone into hiding after committing the crime.
"We have been able to gather that the couple had
disagreed earlier in the day, prompting the wife to seek refuge in the
neighbor’s house on Monday night. When the husband returned and found the
deceased and her sister alone, he is suspected to have raped and left her for
dead,” added Mr. Chekwony.
The police chief added that officers are presently trying to
track the suspect using his phone's last signal since it has been switched off.
"We suspect that he might have crossed to the neighbouring
Tanzania but we are trailing him. We are optimistic to smoke him out,” he stated.
Meanwhile, the body of the deceased has since been moved to the
Loitokitok sub-county hospital mortuary.
