Justin Muturi's net worth now at Ksh.801M from ‘about Ksh.700M’ in 2022

Public Service Cabinet Secretary nominee Justin Muturi has declared his net worth at Ksh. 801 million.

During his vetting before the National Assembly Committee on Appointments at County Hall in Nairobi on Sunday, Muturi said he recorded “a slight adjustment” from Ksh.761 million in October 2022 when he was being vetted for the Attorney-General post.

At the time, however, Muturi told Parliament he was worth “just about Ksh.700 million”.

“I have been a very modest public servant and my net worth is currently estimated at just about Ksh.700 million,” he said at the time.

Among the key issues Muturi pledged to tackle if approved as Public Service CS is engaging with the Public Service Commission (PSC) and other stakeholders on restructuring the internship program so that students have many more areas students can intern beyond just the public sector.

In his view, the public service internship program needs to be changed to a national internship program.

“This way, the private sector is also involved because the skills these graduates have will not only be used in the public sector. This program should be relooked and re-engineered and expanded,” Muturi told the vetting committee.

“If we continue with it as is, we will just be creating more anger among Kenyans.”

He similarly noted that if approved, he would scour various public service dockets to bring to an end “budgeted corruption”, telling MPs “This is something I am very passionate about.”

“I will work hand-in-hand with Parliament, which is where things are moved, to clear some of the things that have remained undelivered in the public service,” Muturi added.

He additionally pledged to crack down on the forgery of academic certificates to gain employment in the public sector.

“It is criminal,” said Muturi, warning that he will ensure those caught will be prosecuted and jailed.

“To send a very clear message to everybody, anybody who seeks employment in the public service should be prepared that when found they will face the full force of the law,” he told the vetting committee.

Muturi formerly served as Attorney-General before President William Ruto dissolved his Cabinet on July 11.

If approved, he will take over from Moses Kuria.
