Suzanne Jepkemboi, the daughter of late June Chebet Moi paid tribute to her mother during her burial ceremony held at AIC Kabarak in Nakuru County on Thursday.

Jepkemboi remembered her mother as an inspiring soul, who was always there for those who came to her.

“Her home was open to everyone and hospitality made everyone feel important. All my friends love her as much as I did. She became aunty June to all of them and never failed to make them laugh or feel at home,” she euologised.

Jepkemboi celebrated her mother as the most loving, humble, compassionate, understanding and family-oriented woman.

“She taught me love, patience endurance and taught me how to pray and lead by example. She praised me whenever I did good and pointed out my mistakes with a gentle voice.”

She also praised her late mom’s athletic skills.

“Mom was an incredible sports woman whether it was hockey, swimming, golf or polo. She knew what she was doing. She always challenged me and pushed me when it came to sports,” she said.

The late June was also a lover of music, Nollywood films and crypto password games.

“Mom loved listening to “Boys to Men” or “Michael Jackson.’ And I always surprised her whenever we were in the car and I would play that songs and she would respond with,” how do you know that song?” She also loved Nollywood films something I could never understand exactly. She enjoyed a good crypto password every morning with a cap of tea. And though I tried to help her every time I never seemed to get the answers right.”

Jepkemboi also shared that her mother had artistic skills that she acquired.

“Mom was a great artist. And I discovered this out while revenging through her stuff and came across her old notebooks that she had in secondary school. Her love for art reciprocated through me. She kept all my little drawings and doodles I did for her. Though they weren’t the best at the time she still encouraged me to take it further and pursue my passion for art.”

June Moi, who died on April, 11 will be laid to rest on April, 18 2024.
