Journey to Canaan still on course Raila

The National Super Alliance (NASA) leader, Raila Odinga, has expressed confidence that the Supreme Court will rule in his favor in the presidential petition, insisting that the Canaan journey ‘is still on course’.

Speaking on Sunday, August 27 after attending a church service at the All Saints Cathedral, Raila said that NASA is optimistic that the court will rule in the opposition’s favour, owing to the evidence that they will be presenting before the seven-judge bench.

“We are satisfied with the proceedings at the Supreme Court, Kenyans are crying for justice and no force will subvert the will of the people,” Raila said.

He accused the Jubilee administration of misrule and presiding over corruption during President Kenyatta’s first four years in office.

“I want to assure Kenyans that nothing will stop them from liberating themselves from the political oppression, corruption, deceit and misrule that has characterized the jubilee administration during their four years in office,” Raila said.

On Supreme Court Prayers

The former Prime Minister also dismissed Nairobi Police Commander, Japheth Koome’s rejection of NASA’s request to hold prayers outside the Supreme Court terming the top cop’s recent warning as unconstitutional.

“Kenyans don’t need police permission to hold prayers or demonstrate they only need to notify them, that officer should read the law, we did away with such oppressive laws,” Raila said.

Koome had on Saturday, August 26 turned down a request by the NASA which intended to hold prayers for the presidential petition on Sunday outside the Supreme Court.
