John Mbadi: ODM will issue direct ticket in Homa Bay governor race
The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) will
give a direct ticket to a gubernatorial aspirant in Homa Bay County, the party National Chairman John Mbadi has said.
Speaking in an interview on Ramogi TV on
Wednesday, Mbadi stated that it will be the mandate of the party National
Election Board (NEB) to announce the decision.
The Suba South MP went ahead to mention that
if the electorates feel otherwise, they should elect the candidates of their
choice even from other parties.
The legislator further clarified that he will
not be vying for any elective position in the upcoming elections.
“I can only vie in two positions as I
mentioned earlier, I can run for the gubernatorial or presidential seat. As of
now, I cannot compete against my party leader Raila Odinga,” stated Mbadi.
“We have confidence with the electoral
process in ODM and it is our hope that we will change the narrative to be seen
as a peace-loving party. This notion has cost us in the previous elections. I
am urging my supporters to swallow their anger and see the bigger picture.”
As of now, the ODM party has issued a direct
ticket for the gubernatorial aspirants from Garissa and Kajiado counties.
