JKIA runway closed due to 'aircraft incident' - KAA

Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) on Tuesday reported an aircraft incident which led to the closure of the runway at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) on Tuesday. 

KAA confirmed that the removal of the aircraft was underway. No injuries were reported as a result of the incident. 

“An aircraft Incident has caused runway closure at JKIA. No injuries have been reported. Removal of the aircraft is underway.  We apologize for any inconvenience caused and will provide updates shortly,” KAA stated. 

The authority, in a statement released later on, confirmed that the aircraft had since been removed from the runway and operations resumed at the airport.

"The disabled aircraft has been recovered from the runway, and normal airport operations have resumed. Thank you for your patience and cooperation," read the subsequent statement.
