JKIA, CBD, Mombasa Road and other Nairobi areas that will go without water for 24 hours

From Thursday, October 3, to Friday, October 4, several areas in Nairobi and its surrounding regions will experience water shortages.

In a statement, Managing Director Eng. Nahason M. Muguna explained that the disruption is necessary to reroute the DN 1000mm pipeline at the Uhuru Highway-Haile Selassie Junction, as part of the Green Park Pedestrian Underpass construction project. 

The water shutdown will begin at 6:00 AM on Thursday and is expected to end at 6:00 AM on Friday.

“We appeal to our customers for understanding and urge them to use available water sparingly as we work towards restoring the supply,” the statement read.

The affected areas include the Central Business District (CBD), parts of Mombasa Road, South B & C Estates (including Mater Hospital), Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA), Standard Gauge Railway (SGR), Athi River Export Processing Zone (EPZA), Coca-Cola, Mukuru, Imara Daima, and estates and industries along North Airport Road, Embakasi Village, and Tassia Estate.

Other impacted locations are Ngara, Wangari Maathai Road, Desai Road, Kipande Road, Limuru Road, Muranga Road, Park Road, Gigiri, Whispers Avenue, Village Market, United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), the U.S. Embassy, General Service Unit (GSU), Administration Police Training Schools, Nairobi Internal Container Depot, parts of Baraka Estate, industries along Masai Road, Buruburu Phase 3, 4, and 5, Gikomba, Pumwani, Majengo, Shauri Moyo, and the entire Industrial Area.
