Jeremiah Kioni is still believed to be the legitimate Secretary General of the Jubilee Party according to a poll by Trends and Insights For Africa (TIFA).

This as the party is still yet to formally establish who is its rightful SG as opposition-supported Kioni has been at loggerheads with government-backed Kanini Kega over the former ruling party's leadership.

The leadership of Jubilee remains wobbly amid a court case challenging the same, involving the Political Parties Disputes Tribunal and the Registrar of Political Parties.

In the opinion poll released on Thursday, 32% of the respondents recognize Kioni as Jubilee's SG while 21% consider Kega as the party's SG.

Of those believing in Kioni's leadership, 28% are pro-government, 47% pro-opposition and 17% are neutral.

On the other hand, 31% who believe in Kega's leadership are pro-government, 15% are pro-government and 13% are neutral.

TIFA further notes that 37% of the respondents want those who were elected on a Jubilee ticket but switched camps to the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) - 29 in the National Assembly and 5 in the Senate - should resign and seek re-election on a UDA ticket.

Thirty-nine percent also believe that the legislators should just remain in Jubilee while 18% reserved their opinions.

The survey also observed that 15% of those supporting the opposition also support Jubilee as their second party and 13% of those supporting the government support Jubilee as their second party.

The poll contains data obtained from the national survey from 24th to 30th June, 2023 which comprised 1,530 respondents and the survey was conducted using CATI (Computer-Assisted-Telephonic-Interviews).
