Jeff Mwathi's body to be exhumed for fresh autopsy
The exhumation of
the late Jeff Mwathi's body is currently underway at his parents’ home in
Likia, Njoro sub-county, Nakuru County.
Detectives from
the homicide department of the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) are
part of the team leading the exhumation exercise for fresh autopsy amid the ongoing
probe into of Mwathi’s death.
This comes after
investigators revealed that Mwathi was murdered before he was thrown through out
of the window of Mugithi artiste DJ Fatxo's house.
DCI boss AminMohamed on Wednesday joined detectives at Redwood Apartments in Kasarani,
where the interior designer mysteriously died in late February.
DCI Amin was
accompanied by detectives from the homicide department who were trying to
reconstruct the scene of crime.
Mwathi was said to
have fallen from the 10th-floor window of the apartment after partying with DJ
Fatxo and his friends on February 22.
Reports indicate
that Mwathi had met the entertainer hours earlier to hold discussions about an
interior design gig that he wanted him to undertake for a fee.
After wrapping up
the business meeting, the pair then went out for drinks at four different clubs
in and around Nairobi.
CCTV footage from
the Redwood Apartments captured Mwathi, DJ Fatxo, his driver and three
unidentified women returning to the premises at around 3am.
According to a
police report, a relative of the DJ arrived at the residence some minutes later
in a different vehicle.
DJ Fatxo was then
captured leaving his apartment with the three women at around 4am, while Mwathi
stayed behind with two other men.
CCTV footage would
a few moments later capture Mwathi falling to his death.
