Jalango, Nixon Korir clash over 'Uhuru Gardens Land Grabbing Allegations'

Felix Odiwor alias Jalango, a Langata parliamentary seat candidate, and incumbent MP Nixon Korir sparred in a debate on Sunday ahead of the August 9 General Election.

Jalang'o, who is running under the Azimio La Umoja banner in the constituency, and Korir, who is running under the Kenya Kwanza banner, clashed over an allegation made by Jalang'o that the MP had taken over Uhuru Gardens.

"The current MP is accused of having grabbed land, and this is something that is in the public where he was a part of a team that was at at Uhuru Gardens where he was running his premises," Jalango said.

The Langata MP Korir dismissed the allegations during the same debate, saying the claims were being peddled by 'bloggers' pursing a campaign objective.

"Those are just jokes, those are bloggers business, we are not here to discuss bloggers business, I dont have any case in court, this is just a campaign strategy,"Korir said.

At the same time, Korir told the panel that he has been part of several efforts that have thwarted land grabbers who've attempted to encroach public land in Langata.

He said that in the latest, he had written to the National Land Commission and the Ministry of Interior about an alleged plan to grab public land near the Carnivore grounds.
