Isaac Ruto airlifted to Nairobi hospital after falling ill

Bomet Governor aspirant Isaac Ruto is presently undergoing treatment at the Nairobi Hospital where he is said to have been admitted on Tuesday.

The Chama Cha Mashinani (CCM) party leader is said to have been flown to the city on the said day for medical attention due to acute flu.

CCM party Secretary General Albert Kochei, in a statement released on Thursday, said the acute flu left Ruto unwell for the better part of last week.

He however sought to assure supporters of the first Bomet Governor that he will soon be back on his feet, thanking Amref Flying Doctors for their swift response.

“I wish to notify the members of the public that Isaac Kiprono Ruto fell ill on Tuesday 9th August 2022 and was airlifted to Nairobi Hospital by Amref Flying Doctors. Isaac Ruto had been unwell for the past one week due to acute flu which necessitated immediate evacuation from Bomet for thorough medical attention,” stated Kochei.

“The doctor's report indicates that he is on a road to recovery and we expect him to be discharged anytime from today. Isaac Ruto, regrets that he is not able to be with his supporters during this crucial moment of vote counting. He wishes to assure them that he will be back soon.”

The Secretary General further added: “He wishes to thank his family and supporters for their moral support and in a special way thank Arnref Flying Doctors for their prompt evacuation response.”

In his quest to become the Bomet Governor for a second time, Ruto is facing tough competition from Hillary Barchok (UDA) and Benard Mutai (ANC).
