Ikigai College taps into Kenya’s booming construction industry with cutting-edge interior design courses
In October for instance, Kenya National Bureau of Statistics (KNBS) reports that the value of approved non-residential building plans by Nairobi County increased from Ksh2.2 billion in September to Ksh3.3 billion in October while the value of approved residential building plans by the County was KSh 7.3 billion in October 2024.
“As Kenya’s real estate and construction industries expand, so does the demand for professionals skilled in creating functional and visually stunning spaces. In response, we are offering programs that cater to various aspects of the built environment,” said Benard Makori, Principal of Ikigai College of Interior Design.
“Our vision is to become a hub for creative and technical education, not only for interior design but for the entire built environment sector. The introduction of new programs reflects our commitment to staying ahead of industry trends and addressing the demands of our students and the market.”
In order to meet the needs of the country’s growing built environment, the college principal says the institution has introduced areas such as the construction management, a new addition aimed at equipping learners with the tools to oversee and manage construction projects efficiently.
Other areas of training are in interior design which entails comprehensive course covering design principles, CAD applications, and project management. The graphic design aspect focuses on blending creativity and technology to produce compelling visual content.
January 2025
The Principal says the January 2025 intake is a pivotal moment for the institution as it continues its mission to be the top interior design school in Kenya.
“With expanded course offerings and a focus on delivering world-class education, Ikigai College is well-positioned to shape the next generation of designers and construction professionals.”
