The High Court has summoned Inspector General of Police Japhet Koome and Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) boss Mohammed Amin to appear in court over the disappearance of Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja's key liaison person Osman Khalif Abdi.

Osman’s whereabouts have remained unknown since his abduction at a mall in Nairobi on November 10, 2023.

In the orders issued on Friday, the IG and the DCI boss have been directed to appear in court on Monday.

The court also ordered telecommunications services provider Safaricom to produce car tracking records of the vehicle used by the abductors.

On Thursday, High Court Judge Chacha Mwita directed the Attorney General and the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) to produce Osman in Milimani law court or any other court on Friday, November 17, 2023.

The court further ordered that if the two State bodies do not produce Osman they should show cause why he should not be released.

The orders were issued after his wife Yasmin Osman moved to court under a certificate of urgency.

The former South C MCA and Nairobi Liaison Officer was allegedly taken by five gunmen inside a mall in Westlands at around 5 pm. They were reportedly using a double-cabin vehicle.
