Speaking in Chuka during the launch of a road construction project, Ichung’wah condemned Gachagua's call for Kenyans in the diaspora to stop sending money home until President William Ruto’s administration exits office.
“We want to ask those who are bad mouthing our country outside the country to try to be patriotic, not for the sake of the leaders but for the sake of the country,” said Ichung’wah.
He described the remarks as irresponsible, emphasizing that they would hurt ordinary Kenyans rather than the government.
“Ukiwa kiongozi ukiwa Marekani unaambia Wakenya wasitume wazazi wao pesa, utakuwa unaumiza wazazi sio serikali,” he added.
Ichung’wah further warned that such statements not only undermine the credibility of Kenya’s leadership but also jeopardize ongoing efforts to grow the economy and improve livelihoods. He urged opposition figures to move away from divisive politics, hate speech, and tribal rhetoric, saying the focus should be on development and nation-building.
Echoing these sentiments, South Mugirango MP Silvanus Osoro also took aim at Gachagua and other leaders associated with the opposition, accusing them of engaging in empty political noise without offering viable solutions for the country.
“Mwenye anongoza choir ya wantam alikuwa bunge term moja, kumaanisha yeye ndio one-term,” Osoro said in a veiled jab Gachagua.
He also questioned the former deputy president’s political ambitions:
“Viongozi wote wa wantam ndio wanajisemea watakuwa one-term, huyu mwenye anapiga kelele huko America hata hawezi simama president sababu yuko impeached,” added Osoro.
Osoro called for respect toward the current administration, particularly Deputy President Professor Kithure Kindiki, stating that the government is focused on delivering its development agenda. He expressed confidence in the Ruto administration’s ability to secure a second term in office.
