Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen has thanked President William Ruto for nominating him as Roads, Transport, and Public works Cabinet Secretary.

"I want to thank you DP and the president for believing in me and giving me this opportunity to serve Kenyans. I have been in Senate for a while but you saw it fit I serve the country in this capacity. I want to say a big thank you," Murkomen said.

“Be prepared to be my mentors on executive issues as you were in the legislature. I will be willing to learn,” he added.

He also said the Kenya Kwanza government will endeavour to open places like Kerio Valley through improved infrastructure to end banditry and cattle rustling.

The vice has been so rampant in the area that law makers are now considering treating banditry as terrorism.

Murkomen said before the prayers, incoming Interior CS Kithure Kindiki will ensure that peace returns to Kerio Valley, and that no one will die through shootings.
