'I regret letting you take this career move': Kilifi chief officer Rahab Karisa's widower opens up on murder 'by househelp'
Maxwell Mmera, who goes by the name ‘Mmera Senior’ on Facebook, penned a post, saying the househelp accused of murdering his wife, did so after she was called out for stealing.
He wrote, “You didn't deserve it, you that cannot hurt a fly, you didn't. And your only mistake being, asking a housegirl who has stolen from you while you were away and mentioning to her that the following day you'd take her to the police. The brutal animal instead of just escaping peacfully, wakes up and stabs you while you are sleeping - that was was so painful my love.”
Karisa is said to have returned to her Mnarani home in Kilifi from a work trip to Italy on Wednesday night.
Police said preliminary investigations established she was stabbed by her househelp, who then fled.
In a tribute by Kilifi Governor Gideon Mung’aro, he said Rahab was a young, talented and hardworking officer with a bright future.
He added, “According to preliminary police investigation, Rahab was brutally murdered by her househelp. I am calling upon the security agencies to move with speed to arrest the known culprit to face the full force of the law.”
Meanwhile, Mmera, in his post, said he regretted allowing Karisa to take a career move away from him.
He wrote, “7 months down the line I am coming back to a lifeless, cold and dead you babe. We had plans of your comeback, great projects to achieve and dreams of the future, but now what can I say except cry!!!”
The young family had two sons under five years old.
According to a previous post on his Facebook, Mmera was still grieving the loss of his mother, who passed on in 2016.
Mmera said his children will need therapy, adding that one witnessed the attack and told him, “Mama is kufa, mama is fall down, mama has blood, mama is in hospital, I will fall down like mama...."
Their younger child is yet to understand that his mother is no more.
Karisa was to celebrate her 31st birthday today (Saturday).
Investigations are continuing into the murder.
