'I got you babe!' Former President Uhuru Kenyatta requests classic reggae song on a radio birthday call
Former President Uhuru
Kenyatta has appreciated Kenyans for their continued love and support while
also saying he is thankful to God for his good health and long life as he turns
one year older today. He turns 62.
Kenyatta was speaking to Kameme FM after the Gikuyu radio station called
him to wish him a Happy Birthday.
While sounding jubilant, Kenyatta appreciated the caller's birthday wishes
but also shied from revealing his actual age, only laughing the question away
but also saying that he was thankful to God for turning a year older, healthy
and sprightly.
"Let's not talk about my age, we give thanks for the years that God
had given me. Life begins at 40. We thank God for the far he has brought us and
for good health," said the former Commander-in-Chief.
A known patriot, the former President also spoke glowingly of the country
he once led for ten years, wishing it a longer life, too.
"We also pray for the country (Kenya) as she approaches 60 years. May
the country live long and achieve even more years accompanied by peace, "
he said.
As the radio presenter exchanged humorous banter with the former
President, Kenyatta couldn't control his laughter after he was wished a myriad
of good things, among them, the things which the biblical King Solomon 'loved'.
"We wish you good health, richness and all the things that men desire
- including the things Solomon loved most," show host Muthoni Wa Kirumba
said, to which a laughing Kenyatta responded, "I will also thank you so
much for those things too!"
Not one to hide his love for reggae music, Kenyatta would go on to request
the radio host to play him the classic 'I got you babe' by his favourite pop
band UB40.
The former president has also received well wishes from Kenyans across the
country.
At his home county, traders from Gatundu market threw the former president a colourful birthday party, albeit in absentia.
