I gave Riggy G a hard time when he was pursuing me - Pastor Dorcas
Speaking during an interfaith Thanksgiving at the university, Dorcas narrated her days as a student in K.U in the 80s, when Gachagua was chasing her.
She said her first encounter with Riggy G was when he went to K.U as the Chairman of the Nyeri District Students Union of the University of Nairobi.
Then, Riggy G was registering students to go to former President Moi's Kabarnet Gardens as it was the norm. Seeing him clad in a brown suit, she liked him. It was June 1987.
"I didn't pay much attention but I thought he was interesting. So young men please dress well always," Dorcas said.
Riggy G saw her too and liked her, and the two started talking.
She revealed that she could change hostels whenever Gachagua visited because she had not decided to give into his adventures yet.
"I used to stay there at Ruwenzori, and whenever he came looking for me I could change hostels just to avoid him. I really gave him a hard time for like six months, trying to evade him because I had not decided yet," Dorcas said amid laughter from the students.
She eventually gave in to his advances, and the two would go on to become husband and wife, and parents to two sons.
Dorcas was at the university for the ceremony following the March 18 grisly accident that killed 11 K.U students and left 18 others severely injured.
17 of those injured have been discharged, while one student is still in ICU fighting for his life.
Also present during the service was Education CS Ezekiel Machogu, who narrated how feared for the worst when the accident happened.
Machogu said he did not know how the students would react when the accident happened, but thanked them for maintaining calm and tranquility during the difficult period.
