Lawyer Miguna Miguna has highlighted his plight in a foreign country since the Kenyan government allegedly denied him entry into the country on Tuesday.

Speaking in a virtual interview with KTN Newsline on Tuesday night, the embattled lawyer insisted that as a Kenyan citizen, he has experienced all forms of torture psychologically, physically and emotionally as the government continues to frustrate his bids to return to his mother country.

“I have a right to go home, I have not been home for four years. Can you imagine what that is,” he posed.

“I have a family in Kenya, I have relatives who have died, I have those I have not seen for four years. I have a living to make like everyone else, I don’t need a reason to go home,” he added while referring to the emotional torture he has had to endure.

Miguna explained that Air France did not stop him from traveling but rather, they are only guilty of enforcing an illegal order from Nairobi.

“Air France allowed me to book the flight and I booked the flight using my perforated Kenyan passport. What they did wrong was acting to obey something they know is extremely illegal,” Miguna stated.

Similarly, lawyer Miguna outline the events as they transpired on Tuesday until he was denied boarding after going through all the required processes.

“The customer service who had already been notified of my arrival told me quite clearly before they started checking in, they had my picture and were waiting for me,” he insisted.

“We received the red alert this morning directing us that we don't allow you to board,” he added.

On Tuesday, the lobby group dubbed United Progressive Front led by former Chief Justice Willy Mutunga and Law Society of Kenya President Nelson Havy moved to court seeking fresh orders to compel the executive to lift the red alerts barring the return of Dr. Miguna to the country.

They also sought orders to force Air France to allow Miguna to board the next flight to Kenya on Tuesday but their efforts according to Miguna have hit a dead-end as the Kenyan Authorities have not lifted the red alerts.

“We underscore the need for the government to obey court orders, remove red alerts and ensure that Miguna Miguna is given unrestricted entry back to his home,” LSK president Havy said on Monday.

“We are here to assure the Kenyans that we will not relent in our defence for the upholding of the respect of all Kenyans,” former CJ Mutunga added.

The self-proclaimed NRM General was first deported in February 2018 after taking part in the swearing-in of ODM leader Raila as the 'People's President' at Uhuru Park on January 30, 2018.
