Huldah Momanyi: I know President Ruto has a heart for Kenyans
Huldah Momanyi Hiltsley, the Kenya-born woman who won a Minnesota House
Representative seat in the recent U.S. general elections, has described President
William Ruto as someone with a heart for Kenyans.
Momanyi, while attending
this year’s Jamhuri Day celebrations at Uhuru Gardens in Nairobi on Thursday, was asked by
Citizen TV how he would rate President Ruto’s performance since assuming office
in September 2022.
“I’m not in the business of rating
President Ruto,” she responded, “but I know he has a heart for his people and he is
doing the best he can to ensure he addresses the concerns of his citizens. He
continues to do that and it’s all the citizens want.”
Momanyi is Kenyan-American and hails from Nyamira County.
Speaking of her plans on her
first visit to the country since she made history after winning the Minnesota
House of Representative seat, she said she hoped to
meet President Ruto.
“I will head to Nyamira to celebrate properly,
come back (to Nairobi) for some strategic economic meetings on Monday before I
leave on Tuesday,” she said.
This year’s Jamhuri Day
marks 60 years since Kenya became a republic in December 1964.
