Homicide detectives have taken over the
probe into the mysterious murder of 29-year-old Naomi Wangare Mwangi, who was
raped and killed in Nairobi's Embakasi estate by unknown assailants.
Detectives spent the better part of Sunday
at the scene where the deceased's body was discovered on February 18.
In a chilling discovery, Naomi was
found dead with her body showing signs of strangulation and sexual assault.
Investigators have recorded statements from
her family to trace the deceased's last movements.
Police also interrogated a key suspect who
was with the deceased before she was killed.
Investigations reveal the female suspect in
their custody is a person of interest because she might have been used to lay a
trap for the victim and there is a link between her and those who committed the
crime.
Police also visited an entertainment joint
where the suspect in the company of the deceased was last seen.
According to Naomi's family, she received a
phone call and left her home but never returned.
Hours later, her dead body was discovered
in the neighbourhood. An autopsy shows Naomi was raped and sexually assaulted.
A manhunt for the two men said to have been
involved in her murder is on.
