Homa Bay: Woman burns 9-year-old son’s hands for stealing Ksh.50

A 9-year-old boy is nursing injuries at the Ndhiwa sub-county hospital, Homa Bay County, after his mother burned his two hands for allegedly stealing Ksh.50.

According to Lower Kayambo Chief Cyprian Obonyo, the mother - Maren Odhul – then proceeded to hide the boy, Pablo Otieno, in the house for close to a week.

Pablo only got to receive medical attention after the intervention of the area administrator who stormed the home.

Ndhiwa hospital administrator Nicodemus Odundo said the boy is stable but scheduled for specialised treatment at a level 4 facility in Homa Bay town.
