Homa Bay County security officials have
intensified operations to recover four guns and 110 rounds of ammunition
reportedly stolen from Kipasi Police Post in Lambwe ward, Mbita sub-county, by
unknown people.
In the Wednesday night incident labelled as a
break-in, the weapons stolen alongside the ammunition included an AK47 and
three G3 rifles.
According to the police report, an unknown
number of thugs broke into the armoury through the window and stole the said
weapons.
It is still not clear how the robbers broke
into the armoury and where the police officers attached to the post were during
the night raid.
Homa Bay County Police Commander Samson Kinne
said they have intensified their operations to recover the guns and arrest the
suspects as soon as possible, adding that the incident has caused tension in
the area.
The police boss has since called on members
of the public to cooperate with the security officers in tracing the weapons as
they’re in the wrong hands and therefore a threat to their livelihoods.
Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal
Investigations (DCI), regular police and national government administration
officials are on the ground to ensure they recover the guns.
