The High Court has ordered that Phillip Aroko, a suspect in the murder of Kasipul MP Charles Were remains in police custody as directed by the lower court until the full seven-day period is completed.

Aroko was arraigned at the JKIA court under a miscellaneous application in connection with the murder of Kasipul MP.

The court allowed the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) to detain him for seven days to complete investigations into the matter.

On Monday, before High Court judge Alexander Muteti, the court agreed to withdraw the matter following Aroko’s request to withdraw an application before the High Court, arguing that the orders sought had already been fulfilled when he was presented before the JKIA court on Friday.

The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) informed the court that it had complied with the orders issued on Friday.
