The bridge connecting the two villages was swept away by heavy floods, causing extensive destruction as well as cutting off access for traders and tea farmers who transport their produce to the nearby factories.
"We woke up to a disaster today as the bridge broke. Nobody can cross it, and this bridge is crucial for tea farmers heading to Kapsabet market," recounted Sammy Kolum, a resident of Kamurguywo.
Paul Lagat, a teacher in Kipsinende expressed concerns about the mental impact on Form Four candidates who are currently on their second day of sitting for the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) national exams.
"Some Form Four students have been affected. These students, as they take their exams, must think about crossing challenges," he said.
Locals have called on the Government for assistance to rebuild the bridge.
As most parts of Kenya are currently experiencing heavy rains that has rendered roads impassable in a number of arid and semi-arid areas, residents have been advised to use alternative routes to prevent accidents.
This comes subsequent to a warning by the Kenyan Meteorological Department that heavy rainfall is expected to continue in most parts of the country from November.
