'He is 42, why are you speaking on an adult's behalf?' Aukot to CS Muturi on son's abduction

'He is 42, why are you speaking on an adult's behalf?' Aukot to CS Muturi on son's abduction

Thirdway Alliance Party Leader Ekuru Aukot in an interview with Citizen TV on July 11, 2024.

Thirdway Alliance party leader Ekuru Aukot has questioned Public Service Cabinet Secretary (CS) Justin Muturi why he is still part of President William Ruto's government if he blames it for abducting his son.

Speaking to Citizen TV on Thursday, Aukot argued that if Muturi is vexed with the State, he should disassociate with it and chastise it as an outsider.

"If you claim this government has abducted your son, what are you still doing in this government?" he posed.

Aukot further poked holes in Muturi's claims, questioning why he is speaking on an adult's behalf terming the matter as "cheap politics"

"He was arrested, not abducted. Those are facts. This is a 42-year-old man why is the father speaking for an adult?" he posed.

Muturi has chided national security over the disappearance of youthful Kenyans, demanding answers on why his son, Leslie Muturi, was also abducted in June 2024.

"I have personally suffered as my son was abducted leaving my family in turmoil," he said.

"I've not gotten any answers as to why my son was abducted, held incommunicado and nobody gave any reasons for that abduction."

Muturi noted that the silence from the government has eroded public confidence in the security organs and those involved should be held to book.

His remarks have invited threats from political leaders, among them National Assembly Majority Whip Sylvanus Osoro, warning him that he faces impeachment if he does not apologise to President Ruto.

Muturi has boldly vowed to take on his political nemesis, stating he will not cower to threats from junior politicians.

“I will just say bring it on. At my age, I’m not the kind of person to respond to some perfunctory statements made by fairly inexperienced politicians. I think they’re not worthy my response. So if anybody thinks that I don’t know what I was doing, they’re up for a rude shock,” he said.
