Granny burnt inside house in Mbaruku; police suspect foul play

By Sharon Flora

Detectives in Nakuru are investigating a fire that claimed the life of an 83-year-old woman, Leah Wanjiru Kamau. The incident occurred Friday night at her home in Mbaruku, stage 1 last night.

According to Gilgil Sub County Police Commander Winstone Mwakio, the fire broke out while Wanjiru was asleep, destroying her home of over 50 years.

Despite the initial appearance of an accidental blaze, authorities are probing foul play with reports suggesting an internal land dispute might have been behind it. The elderly lady's body is preserved at Gilgil subcounty hospital as investigations continue.
