Gov't releases list of all permitted alcohol manufacturers in Kenya

The Ministry of Interior on Thursday released a list of local companies permitted to manufacture alcoholic drinks in line with requirements set by the Kenya Bureau of Standards (KEBS).

This is the wake of the government’s new regulations to combat illegal businesses dealing in drugs and illicit brew.

Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki on Wednesday announced the suspension of licences for all manufacturers of second-generation alcohol.

Terming drugs and illicit alcohol abuse a national security threat, he said the manufacturers will be required to apply afresh within three weeks, during which all existing valid licences will be vetted afresh.

Per the list released Thursday by the Interior Ministry, 55 companies have valid standardisation permits from the statutory body. They comprise;
