Gov’t official charged for allegedly forging degree from JKUAT

A Rural
Electrification and Renewable Energy Corporation (REREC) official was on
Tuesday arraigned for allegedly forging his academic qualifications to secure
employment as a Supply Chain Management Officer at the State body.
Dennis Thuo Kimani
appeared before the Milimani Anti-Corruption Court where he denied charges of
forging a university degree from the Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture
and Technology (JKUAT).
“Investigations
established that Dennis forged a Degree Certificate in Purchasing and Supplies
Chain Management and Transcripts from 1st to 4th year, purporting them to be
genuine documents legitimately attained from Jomo Kenyatta University of
Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT),” a source at the Ethics and Anti-Corruption
Commission (EACC) told Citizen Digital.
“Appearing before
Anti-Corruption Principal Magistrate Hon. Gichana, the accused denied the
charges of forgery, uttering false documents and fraudulent acquisition of
public property being the cumulative amount of salaries and benefits that he
earned based on the fake certificates.”
The suspect was
freed on a bond of Ksh.700,000 or a cash bail of Ksh.200,000.
His case will be
mentioned on March 11, 2024.
