Gov't not committed to implementing second phase of teachers' CBA, KUPPET official says

The Kenya Union of Post Primary Education Teachers (KUPPET) Homa Bay County branch has accused the government through the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) of failing to fulfil its commitments to teachers in the country.

The branch secretary Stephen Yogo says the government has failed to fully implement the second Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) meant to improve the living standard of teachers.

The teachers' union insists that the government must honour its commitment to the second phase of the salary increase stipulated in the amended 2022/2025 CBA.

Addressing the press in Homa Bay Town, Yogo also accused the government of failing to include municipality house allowance in June salary for the union members who are within various municipalities contrary to the agreement.

Yogo says the union leadership in Homa Bay together with KUPPET National office will be forced to issue a strike notice to the government for failing to implement the CBA.

He says that president William Ruto had committed to the union to ensure the CBA is fully implemented but that has not been realized.
