Governor Wamatangi warns political rivals to stop undermining his development agenda
Kiambu Governor Kimani Wamatangi has warned a section of the county’s
leaders who he says are allegedly planning to undermine his development
initiatives.
Speaking in Kerwa, Sigona
Ward, in Kikuyu sub-county on Friday, where he distributed certified maize
seeds and fertilizer to over 5,000 farmers, Governor Wamatangi emphasised on the
need for maturity and tolerance in local politics.
The Governor, while
expressing his frustration with leaders causing chaos during his development
tours, warned his rivals against attending his meetings.
“Kutoka leo kama mtu hana
haja na mkutano wangu kaa mbali…kama ni siasa subiri 2027…leo ni mambo ya
maendeleo,” he said.
Wamatangi has been battling political rivalry with a section
of MCAs and MPs seeking to impeach him over his
failure to appoint County Executive Committee officers and constitute
an all-inclusive Cabinet.
In November last year, Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua came
to the aid of the county boss and called for a meeting with the MCAs.
“The Ruto administration roots for a strong devolution, and
therefore, we have no room for squabbles that will derail service delivery to
the people,” said the DP as he admitted the tiff then.
He also emphasised the importance of a seamless collaboration
between the Executive and Legislative branches of the County Government to
achieve the primary goal of devolution, which is to drive and sustain
development.
After a sit down with MCAs, Gachagua is also set to meet
Members of Parliament from the region and the Governor himself.
