Despite the fact that he has yet to begin courting the vote-rich region, Mutua told the Standard that the mountain is his to take.
"I'm assuring you that Mt Kenya is fully behind me. As some strive to appeal to the Mt Kenya electorate from the foundation, I'm already ahead; I'm at the Cadet level," Mutua told the Standard Newspaper.
"I haven't spoken to them yet, but they've already approved of my candidature. When I'll open my mouth to speak, they'll come running over to me,"
The Machakos Governor who claims his campaigns were thrown off course by the pandemic says when the oportune time comes, he will deal with the two top contenders- Raila and DP Ruto- at that high level to pull an upset at the polls.
"Let them fight at that high level, they'll be shocked when I'll pass be-tween them and clinch the seat." Mutua added.
"I launched my presidential bid in September 2020, but Covid-19 came. I vowed not to be part of the super- spreaders.
According to Mutua, leading a race from the start does not guarantee victory.
Despite the fact that he has yet to choose a running mate, Mutua stated he would welcome any candidate who has previously run for and won an elective seat.
If elected Kenya's fifth president, Mutua says job creation would be his top priority, with a goal of creating five million jobs in the first three years.
He said he would also ensure the ease of doin business as well as scrapping the fees for polytchecnics across the country.
Mutua also declined to address the elephant in the room, his apparent feud with activist Boniface Mwangi, during the interview.
Mwangi had resorted to Twitter to accuse the Machakos governor of 'bombing' his family's Machakos home, claiming that its foundation had been weakened by explosives planted by gun-totting thugs.
Mutua, who declined to speak, described the recent events as "sideshows" intended to distract him from his presidential ambitions.
"People will bring sideshows to deflect me from my main focus of becom ing president," Mutua said.
" I see them for who they are. And, I say: I'm seeing what you're bout to do. I am not going to be caught up in games,"
And on the demand letter that was written to the activist, demanding an apology over the allegations, Mutua says the letter was written by 'people who work for me'
He denied having any knowledge of what Mwangi had written online.
"It (letter) was written by people who work for me. I just appended my signature on the letter. Sensa tionalism and being caught up in small dramas is not helpful at all," he added.
