Nakuru Governor Susan Kihika has castigated the county Senator Tabitha Karanja Keroche, accusing her of being behind a wave of demonstrations by locals directed at her administration.

Kihika, in a statement through County Secretary Dr. Samwel Mwaura, said the recent demonstration in Olenguruone over the poor state of the road and alleged poor maternal services was stage-managed and orchestrated by Senator Keroche to besmirch and taint the image of the county government.

Mwaura said the delay in works on the road was a result of the delayed release of tea cess by the Kenya Tea Development Agency (KTDA) that could have been used to undertake works.

“Through the efforts of our Governor, KTDA last year agreed to submit Ksh.66.8million in four instalments and so far we have received Ksh.33.4 million which would help so much in addressing the challenges of roads in Tinet, Amalo and Kiptagich roads," said the County Secretary.

Mosop Ward MCA Dr. Alex Langat and her Nominated counterpart Leah Serem hit out at Senator Keroche over her remarks on the state of maternal health services and demeaning the Governor who went abroad to deliver her baby.

They said the Senator has not helped the county government to advance her development agenda and instead has only been on a warpath with the county government while failing to discharge her constitutional duties.

Governor Kihika has been facing criticism over the dilapidated state of health services in the county.

Residents have also decried of lack of medical facilities in the hospitals, also saying the quality of services is poor.
