Nakuru Governor Susan Kihika has defended the Council of Governors' move to withdraw from the implementation of the task force report on ECDs.

Speaking in Londiani Kericho County, Governor Kihika backed the CoG proposals to have early childhood education retained in counties. This is contrary to a report by the task force.

The Nakuru Governor said ECDEs are under good care by counties and governors have invested billions of shillings in ECDEs infrustracture.

"As governors, we are saying ECDEs remain under counties...we have seen jitters and some teachers want it to go back to the national government," said Kihika

The council of governors on Tuesday announced that they have withdrawn their participation from the report presented to President William Ruto last year.

Kihika was speaking in Kericho County during the launch of an ECDE block that was donated by Dr. John Ngenoh to Furaha Primary School in Londiani Kipkelion East. The ECDE block which cost Ksh.8 million was donated by the Governor's family and Alumni led by Dr. John Ngenoh

Leaders who accompanied the Nakuru Governor lauded the council of governors' stance to retain the ECDE learning and called for a better education system for young learners.

"We want stakeholders to all come together and support education and uplift the education standards," said Dr John Ngeno also patron of the school.

Dr Ngenoh further called on Kericho residents to prioritise education and called for meaningful reforms.

The governor was accompanied by Nakuru County's first gentleman Samuel Mburu.
