The Global Fund has requested President William Ruto to support their agenda in mobilising funds to end HIV, Tuberculosis and malaria.

In a letter addressed to Prime Cabinet Musalia Mudavadi, the Fund's Executive Director Peter Sands appealed to President Ruto to use his global networks to achieve the mission.

"With your commitment and the leadership of President Ruto, I am confident you can deliver a successful Eighth Replenishment,” he said.

According to Sands, the Fund would continue supporting Kenya and other countries in their initiatives.

He stressed on the importance of equipping African nations with preventive mechanisms to curb the rate of HIV, TB and malaria.

Sands also acknowledged the 20-year partnership between Kenya and the Global Fund; citing that the latter has invested over Ksh.300 billion in Kenya.

The funds, Sands said, have aided Kenya towards achieving its agenda of providing Universal Health Coverage.

"It would be an unthinkable tragedy to see this progress stall, let alone be reversed,” he noted.

"The letter lauded Kenya’s outstanding role as a co-host of the Preparatory Meeting for the Seventh replenishment in 2022 was instrumental in mobilising a historic Ksh.2 trillion reinforcing global solidarity to end HIV, TB and Malaria."
