Gatundu elders want 30 year land dispute with coffee growers solved
The elders claim ownership of the disputed 5 hectares of land in Kiambu, saying they bought it in 1958.
They says that some of the members have died leaving behind their children to fight for the disputed land.
In supporting their case the elders say that former President Jomo Kenyatta was aware that they own the property.
They are accusing Kiambu Cioffee Growers of illegally obtaining the land. The dispute has been in court for over 30 years.
In court papers, Kiambu Coffee Growers Co-operative claim that having possessed the property it has embarked on a process of leasing the land to a third party.
The co-operative is accusing the members of the New Kamwangi Gumba Company Limited who include the old men and women of interfering of the possession of the property.
