Garissa farmers count losses as farms are marooned by floods
The farmers say they can't access their farms to salvage the remaining produce that they harvested last week before the floods swept out their farms.
They also claim to have lost farm implements such as water pumps, fertilizers and seedlings.
Through Garissa Farmers Network, the body wants the government to put in place measures to control further flooding on the farms in future.
They said it's a blow to the farmers since some had invested heavily their lifetime savings after retirement from public service while it's also a discouragement to young people who had the intention of venturing into agriculture.
