‘Gachagua was planning abductions to blame Ruto,’ Ichung’wah claims as he blasts Natembeya
National Assembly Leader of Majority Kimani Ichung’wah has now
linked the recent wave of abductions to impeached Deputy President Rigathi
Gachagua.
Ichung’wah, who has sustained attacks at his once
ally-turned-foe months after he was impeached, said Gachagua had been
facilitating the said kidnappings and leaving the blame on the doorsteps of his
boss, President William Ruto.
Speaking on Friday during the burial of National Assembly
Speaker Moses Wetangula’s mother Maayi Nanyama in Bungoma County, the Kikuyu MP
went guns blazing after Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya faulted the
government over the ongoing disappearances and abductions of youths.
The lawmaker went bare knuckle at Natembeya and chewed him out
for the remarks, accusing him of overseeing similar killings during his tenure
as Rift Valley Regional Commissioner.
According to Ichung’wah, the Trans Nzoia Governor has no moral
authority to lecture the government over abductions since during his tenure in
the security service, Kenyans were abducted and killed in Kerio Valley and
multiple bodies dumped in River Yala under his watch.
“Wakati mliua watu mkaweka River Yala, you (Natembeya) were
the Regional Commissioner in charge of abductions and murdering Kenyans, wewe
mwenyewe! Shame on you, Governor! You cannot claim abductions when you were the
key abductor and murderer of Kenyans under the previous regime,” he stated.
“You were a Regional Commissioner the other day when hundreds
of people were kidnapped, abducted and killed in Kerio Valley and dumped here
in River Yala. Kwani siku hiyo haukujua maisha ya wananchi ni maisha?”
The outspoken legislator went on to accuse Natembeya of
working with Gachagua, whom he accused of being behind the kidnappings to taint
the image of his former boss.
He accused the Governor of leading divisive and tribal
politics, just like the former DP, to alienate communities and cause disunity
among Kenyans.
“Yule aliyekuwa kiongozi wako wa siasa za ukabila, the former Deputy
President was the one planning for abductions to blame William Ruto. Tunawajua
na tunawaona mchana na tutawatangaza mchana hadharani na huwezi kututisha,” the
furious MP stated.
“Siasa mnazofanya za kugawa watu kwa misingi ya kikabila,
uchochezi, hizo siasa zimekwama na hautafaulu nazo.”
Ichung’wah added: “Enda ukatafute huyo mtu tulifurusha mfanye
siasa ya kugawa watu na uchochezi, lakini mtafute nchi nyingine, not this
country. We will not allow you to divide this nation because you think wewe ni Governor
ati unakuja kujipiga kifua hapa.”
Trouble started after Natembeya, in his speech, took issue
with COTU Secretary General Francis Atwoli’s sentiments that some people might
be faking their own abductions to cause mayhem and blame the government.
“I say this with a very heavy heart, for a leader to stand
here and tell you that people are abducting and killing themselves, I think it
is unfortunate. It is not for this hallowed grounds! Our children are getting
lost, are being abducted, and others are being killed, that is the position. We
should not cover up the basic truths,” Natembeya had stated.
“We want abductions to end; children are abusing people on the
internet. That needs to change, but if it can't change, people should not be
killed or abducted because of that.”
The Majority Leader, in defence of Atwoli, slammed Natembeya,
urging him to come forward and submit the names of the abductors to the country’s
investigative agencies if he knows them.
“Abductions are there, Governor Natembeya if you know people
abducting people you are an officer wa NGAO, you have been a Regional Commissioner,
peana habari kwa DCI wachunguze wale wanashika watu…but don’t condemn Atwoli
for saying some people are abducting themselves,” he said.
“Respect the Speaker, nimekuona mara mingi wewe, ati kila
mazishi unaenda kutukana Wetangula. And you have no shame to even stand here
and claim you have friends in this family; if Tim is your friend, he is the
brother to Wetangula. Respect people and we will respect you back!”
