President-in-waiting William Ruto and his deputy Rigathi Gachagua.

Deputy President-elect Rigathi Gachagua says the good listening skills of his boss William Ruto will allow seamless teamwork between them when they assume the presidency.

Speaking at his Karen residence on Tuesday ahead of the swearing in ceremony, Gachagua expressed confidence in working alongside President-elect Ruto and that administering his duties will be feasible.

Gachagua affirmed that he will support the President and be his advisor. He added he is "bringing energy to the presidency" and compliment his boss in governing the country.

"Mine is to support the president, to ensure that the roles he assigned me are met with military precision. I will keep my ears to the ground to listen to what people are saying and advise him appropriately and luckily he is a good listener and he takes advice with humility," said Gachagua.

"I will be bringing energy to the presidency. I'll be complimenting Ruto and support him. He's more than happy to have a good worker who is hardworking like himself."

The DP-in-waiting further affirmed that there will be synergy and good partnership in running the nation, adding that there will be no conflicts between him and his boss as witnessed in the Jubilee government.

He went on to add that his partnership with Ruto exceeds political precincts as they have been "buddies" for over two decades, and has confidence him.

"Me and William Ruto have come a long way for the last 20 years, we are buddies and we are friends," said Gachagua.

"I want to assure Kenyans that the issues we saw between Ruto and Uhuru Kenyatta will not be there and I say that with certainty. Me and him have discussed and he has spelt out my duties quite clearly."

Gachagua added that "this country is in a bad situation" and "it needs serious workers" noting that they will keep their sleeves rolled up to revive the country's ailing economy.
