Gachagua, Kalonzo to reveal plan to unseat Ruto in December 2026

Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka attend the funeral service of Rev. Joseph Kiteng'e Nzola in Katelembo, Machakos County, on April 15, 2025.

Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua says that the opposition has devised a new formula that will help challenge the government and unseat President William Ruto in the 2027 elections.

Speaking during the funeral service of Rev. Joseph Kiteng'e Nzola in Katelembo, Machakos County, Gachagua stated that he would unveil the details of the plan in December 2026.

He emphasized that his political ally, Kalonzo Musyoka, would play a pivotal role in the decision-making process.

The former DP also criticized the Kenya Kwanza government for suppressing freedom of expression, citing last week's incident where Butere Girls students were allegedly harassed by police during a drama festival in Nakuru County.

Drawing comparisons, he recalled how former President Moi tolerated satirical performances by the group "Ridiculous", questioning why the current government would target young performers.

Gachagua also accused the government of harassing the Gen Zs, whom he described as simply fighting for their rights. He urged them to remain calm, promising that his team would restore the nation's dignity once in power.

Addressing recent attacks against him during church services, the truthful man dismissed Kapsaret MP Oscar Sudi's Ksh.2 million church donation in Kiambu as a mere attempt to pacify the church.

Accompanied by Kalonzo Musyoka, the leaders condemned the Kenya Kwanza government for its alleged attacks on the church.

On his part, Kalonzo urged President Ruto to end political intimidation, warning that continued aggression against opposition leaders would prompt a reevaluation of their strategy.

Makueni Senator Dan Maanzo echoed Kalonzo's remarks, labeling the Kenya Kwanza government as cursed.

Machakos Senator Agnes Kavindu also reaffirmed that Kalonzo would automatically become the sixth president of Kenya.
