From Nairobi to New Orleans: Boniface Makori wins inaugural Procera Gin bartender competition

The Tales of the Cocktail competition is a prestigious event in the international spirits industry, attracting top bartenders, brands, and enthusiasts from all over the world.

The competition, held in collaboration with Bartales East Africa, sought to elevate Kenya's bartending scene by empowering local talent and providing a platform for global exposure.
The participants were tasked with creating cocktails that highlighted the distinct flavours of Procera Gin, a luxury African spirit known for its artisanal distillation process and unique ingredients.
Judges, including renowned mixologists and industry experts, praised the overall quality of entries but singled out Makori’s creation for its innovation and complexity.
“Boniface’s cocktail was not just a drink—it was an experience,” one judge remarked. “His use of local botanicals and attention to detail made his creation stand out in an incredibly competitive field.”
Makori’s win comes at a pivotal moment for Kenya’s hospitality industry. Tales of the Cocktail board member John Gakuru emphasized the significance of this milestone.
